Welcome Elliott!

This week we welcomed a new cousin to our family. My sister, Laura had her 1st child on Thursday, 10/14/10 at 2:52 am via c-section. This is the first cousin on my side of the family and their first boy cousin.

The kids and I drove up on Wednesday night and stayed at a friends' lake house. We were able to visit with them on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Lava Experiment

In our science book, Exploring Creation with Astrology, we learned that Venus is full of lava. To better understand lava, we did the following experiment.

• Butter = rock
• Saucepan/stove = heat
• Bowl = volcano
• Flour = land

We melted the butter to see how rock melts to make lava. We poured the butter on top of the bowl to represent how lava comes out of a volcano. The "lava" then ran down the sides and made tracks in the flour. After hours, the butter became hard again just as cooled lava turns back to rock.

Finally Started

Today was the first day of the new school year for us...finally! Since the addition has mostly wrapped up, we were able to start school work. Overall it went pretty well considering that Micah has been added to the mix and we still have company staying with us.

It's Open!

The new Johnny's Pizza in Baton Rouge is now open! We went there Sunday night for supper since Uncle Lee & Aunt Lauren were still in town. This pizza place was started in Monroe so all the north Louisiana transplants are loving having one in Baton Rouge. It opened Wednesday and people were waiting over an hour for a pizza. When we ordered ours last night, they said it would take about 45 minutes to a hour. However, it only ended up being about 30 minutes.

Flag Football Game #4

Cameron had an early game this week…8:00 is early for the Lindsays especially on a Saturday.  Luke’s game was rescheduled for another day since the LSU game was at 2:30.  Cameron played offense this week.  He played quarterback and ran the ball.  He also threw an interception that was run back for a touchdown.  Oops!  He didn’t seem to upset by it…but of course, Luke cried!  He also played center and snapped the ball.  Cameron seems to be enjoying the football more this year and actually watches more of the college and pro games on tv.

PACT - Stick Horse Rodeo

Last night at church, we attended a stick horse rodeo for the PACT (Parents & Children Together) event. Here's a look at my cowboys and cowgirls.

There were stations set up to decorate your horse, make a picture frame, rope a cow, and herd pigs. Plus free dinner...hotdogs, chips, and cookies! After everyone had a chance to eat, the rodeo began. They introduced each rider and their horse. My kids were not too original...Luke's horse's name was Lucas, Cameron's was Cameron Bob, Miriam's horse was George (b/c Mrs. Carrie asked her if his name was George), and Levi's was Chicken! Levi of course was too "chicken" to participate...but Micah didn't have a problem with it! She ended going in Levi's place.

Then it was time for the competition...barrel racing and calf roping. After the games, each rider was deemed a winner and received a medal.

I wanted Daddy to take a group shot of us in our "western wear" and this was the best shot where everyone was looking toward the camera. Typical!
