Easter day

It's been our tradition to take pictures with the Shelbys. It's getting harder and harder to take them as you can imagine with 15 ages 11 and younger. Most of them were tired, hungry and just wanted to play. Plus we're taking the pictures around 1:00 with the bright sun. The only shade was from our neighbor's tree although that didn't make enough. Sarah was crying the whole time, Levi was pouting (typical), Cole was grouchy, Cai was blown out by the sun, and Miriam's big bow makes it look like Tate is wearing a bow tie. But at least we have the memories!

Also attempted to take a family shot since Craig was at work when I took the Easter portraits. We can't seem to get everyone to look at the same time. Plus I'm not liking how fat my face looks in these.

Also snapped some of Daddy & PawPaw with the kids. When PawPaw went home after church, he changed into clothes to match us. LOL!

Sprinkler Fun

Saturday evening Daddy let the kids play in the sprinkler while he watered the grass.

Easter Eggs

Saturday we dyed eggs with Aunt Sara and her friend Taylor. Micah cracked one of the eggs below. When she looked at it, she said "It's hatching!" Photobucket
On Sunday, all of the Lindsay and Shelby kids, hunted the ones that PawPaw, Aunt Sara & Ian hid. It went so quickly with so many hunting, that I didn't actually get any shots of them hunting them.

Levi's Birthday

We started out the day by going to Mary Lee Donuts for breakfast. Luke made sure we brought a candle so he could blow it out. Then we had check-ups at the doctor's office for Luke, Levi & Cole. Afterwards, we met Aunt Sara at McAlister's for lunch. When we got home from lunch, I let Levi pick out a movie to watch before nap time. Since it was Wednesday, we had our normal Wednesday night routine. ZeeZee sent Levi's present with PawPaw to choir practice so Levi got to open it when we got home from church. He couldn't sleep well last night because he wanted to play with it so bad.

Thanks Aunt Lauren!

Monday Aunt Lauren came into town for work and she treated us to Johnny's Pizza. We had a great time visiting...we even closed the place down! She even brought birthday presents for Micah, Cole & Cameron. She's on the ball since their birthdays aren't until May, July & September! The kids each brought a $1 so they could buy the dessert pizza.

Happy 4th Birthday Levi!

His nickname is still "Chicken", b/c Daddy says he runs like a chicken. He knows his numbers and really notices them on speed limit signs if he rides on the first row of the van. He loves to ride his scooter and is playing t-ball this spring.

Baseball Week 2

I was able to take more pictures this week. Miriam & Levi had a game first and then they all had a game at the same time. Miriam & Levi actually had a double header because there was an odd number of t-ball teams. Luke & Cameron's games were right next to each other so I was able to watch both games.

K-9/SRT Fieldtrip

Last Thursday, we went on an amazing fieldtrip to the K-9 Training and Special Response Team Facility.  First, we went inside the facility to hear about car seat safety and stranger danger.

Afterwards, we walked across the seat to see some of the SWAT vehicles.

Finally, we got to see different demonstrations by the K-9 dogs.

A few shots of the kids from the day.

School Crafts from Civil War Days

We haven't done as many crafts/activities this year related to our Tapestry reading. The book Civil War Day had the following recipes/crafts that I finally decided to do.  Shortning bread originated from Scottish immigrants as shortbread. Over the years, the Southern name changed the name to shortning bread or shortin' bread. I made it into a star shape because that is a traditional Scottish symbol for good luck.Photobucket
It was really good, but I wished I had some strawberries so I could have had strawberry shortcake. Even Cole had some...reminds me of the song "Shortnin' Bread"...this cute little cartoon has it at the end.

We also made hardtack, a hard biscuit that was a common food for soldiers. It was pretty tasteless and hard so we ate it with honey. Levi said it was too hard to eat. It was funny because they kept complaining that they didn't like it, but continued to eat it.

We read about a paper craft called scherenschnitte which means scissor cuts. I found this site that had some easy templates for kids...although mine kept complaining. She also had some Star Wars templates that I cut out.

baseball season

Photobucket Baseball season has started. This year we have 4 of them playing: Levi/Miriam - tball on the Marlins, Cameron - coaches' pitch on the Cardinals, Luke - advanced coaches' pitch on the Rays. The good thing is that they practice all at the same time...the bad thing is that often they will play at the same time. This past Saturday was one of those days. Cameron & Miriam/Levi's games were on the same field at least, but Luke was on the other field. Craig is helping with Cameron's team so he watched that game. I went to Luke's game with Cole. ZeeZee, Aunt Sara & Micah watched a little of all the games. Aunt Sara used my camera to take some pictures from each of the games.

Post Office Fieldtrip

Last Tuesday, we went on a fieldtrip to the main post office to see some of the inner workings. The previous group was not allowed to take pictures inside so I didn't attempt to. Plus I was carrying Cole in a carrier so I had couldn't really adjust settings, etc.

Afterwards, we went to City Park again and played. The Shelbys joined our group to picnic and play. Here's a group shot of the Lindsay & Shelby kids.
