Stained Glass

Since we've been studying about the Middle Ages and monasteries this week, one of the suggested crafts was to make an example of stained glass.

Did you know that it took 200-300 years to build a cathedral? Also the Notre Dame cathedral's stained glass windows were taken down and stored during the World Wars so that they wouldn't get destroyed. - taken from Days of Knights and Damsels by Laurie Carlson

First we drew pictures on a piece of cardstock, then we traced that picture with glue (that was dyed black). After the glue dried, we painted our pictures.

Luke's

Cameron's - Can you see his butterflies on the left?

This is Darth Vader...can't you tell?
I had showed him this example of a stained glass Darth Vader that was done from a drawing by a 6-year old.

Miriam's

The one I painted...the kids were so funny...
They wanted to know how mine was so good...Cameron kept saying it was like I was an artist...
I'm sure Aunt Sara would disagree!

Beautiful! And yes, even today in Europe new cathedrals take almost as long! LOL....In Romania they are still building an Orthodox Church that was half done when I was there in 2003/4! So much detail!
