Happy 8th Anniversary!

Today is our 8th anniversary so I thought I would share our story.



In 2000, we both sang in the choir at Parkview, but I always thought he was really old and he thought I was really young. In June, I finally started attending the singles Sunday school class since I had been out of college for 2 years. Our Sunday school teacher planned a beach trip To Fort Morgan over the July 4th weekend. On the way down to the beach, we were able to talk and get to know each other. I was struck by how much he talked about his siblings and how they seemed to be his best friends. This sounded the same as me. So after a couple of days of spending time together, I was attracted to him. I remember standing on the balcony of our condo and looking at him in the pool down below and telling God "I could marry him."



One Sunday I invited him over to my parents house to eat jambalaya. After we ate, we drove to my house and at the and at the corner of Highland and Hwy 421 Craig asked me if he would offend me if he asked me out. Obviously, I said no. On July 17 (a Monday night after he finished tutoring), we went on our first date to Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro.



This was the first picture we ever took together...it was on his boat that we had taken out. I always thought it was neat because there was a rainbow in the picture.

Over New Year's he took me on a surprise trip because I was off of work at LSU for 2 weeks during Christmas/New Year's.


We stayed at a Bed & Breakfast in Plymouth, Massachusetts. On New Year's Eve, we took a train to New York City.

The first thing that we did was to see the Lion King on Broadway.

Then we walked around Central Park. It had snowed a couple of inches the night before.

On New Year's Day, we were back at the Bed & Breakfast in Plymouth.

After dinner, he took me to Plymouth Rock where he proposed.

Art-is-In Camp - Day 1

Art-is-In Camp

This week Luke is attending the Art-Is-In camp put on by Frick & Frack Music. The creative team behind Frick & Frack used to be former Children's Choir Director and Producer at our church. I was excited when their camp was coming this year and Luke was old enough to attend. They will learn a whole musical in a week and perform it on Friday night. Phillip Lanier and Neesa Hart write their own music, script and staging for the musical.

Here's Luke going into the gym when we dropped him off...he's carrying his lunch as well as lunch for the Shelbys. As an added bonus, Cade, Ian & Tate were able to go to the camp with him

What is “Art is In”?

From the "Art is In" website:
ART-is-IN is a week-long day camp during which a team of Frick and Frack Music professionals develop and produce a full-scale Broadway style musical featuring local 1st - 6th grade kids as cast, choir, and crew in your facility. Auditions, intensive rehearsals, performing arts instruction and finished performances for the public are all part of the camp. With a strong emphasis on helping children discover their unique spiritual gifts and talents, every ART-is-IN residency provided Biblically based instruction and principals along with quality arts education. In addition to the expertise and energy of the Frick and Frack, each ART-is-IN residency comes complete with professionally designed scenery, costumes, props and makeup, as well as sound and lighting equipment.
